Wynton Marsalis
As the Artistic Director for Jazz at Lincoln Center, legendary trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis is the most recognized
face of jazz in the modern era. Named as one of Time Magazine’s “Time 100” in 2006, Marsalis is the leading
ambassador and promoter of jazz as one of the true American art forms in the U.S. and throughout the world.

sequences resembled bursts of firecrackers.” Savion Glover has established himself as the most prolific tap
dancer of his generation. Savion Glover has mesmerized audiences worldwide with his behind-the scenes work as
Mumbles, the dancing penguin in the animated film “Happy Feet.”

Sweet Honey in the Rock
For over 30 years, the Grammy Award-winning Sweet Honey in the Rock A cappella ensemble has enchanted audiences
with the sacred music of African American Church- spirituals, hymns, gospel-as well as jazz, rap and blues. The
Powerful voices of these talented women, accompanied with hand percussion instruments will tell the stories of history,
promote activism, and uphold the principle of love.

Nuttin’ But Stringz
Nuttin' But Stringz's music is especially powerful for a young generation which can relate to lively hip-hop beats and
streetwise style. The group is comprised of two brothers who began their musical careers playing classical violin on the
New York City subway. Tourie and Damien Escobar,who have studied at the Juliard School of Music and
Bloomingdale School of Music, have taken their mastered skill to startling heights to include the world famous Apollo
Theater, Jay Leno Show, NICKELODEON and The Ellen Show just to name a few. The talented young musicians play an
intense blending of classical, jazz, R&B, and hip-hop. Last year, the group toured with Yolunda Adams and Disney's
Jingle Jam and made a cameo appearance in the movie "Stomp the Yard."

Spirit of Uganda
The award winning cast of performers, ages 8 – 18 bring to life the sounds and music of East Africa. The African troupe
sings in Luganda, Swahili and English and will play a variety of drums, harps, flutes and xylophones and perform
dances from a number of countries including Uganda, Rwanda, Congo, Tanzania and Kenya. This exuberant and
powerful program give audiences an intriguing experience in the stories, history, legends and beliefs peoples of East
Africa.

She Said/She Says
She Said /She Says, a multimedia education program highlighting some of the important achievements and music by
women that includes composers, arrangers, instrumentalists and vocalists in Jazz music spanning from the 20th century
to present-day. Using advanced images that include live images, live narration, film, dramatic lighting, scenic and projection
deigns, She Said/She Says is a comprehensive, inspiring educational program that celebrates the many women
who have had committed their lives to jazz.
