Cultural Development Foundation of Memphis (CDFM), incorporated in 2000, provides culturally diverse artistic experiences that enrich the lives of school-aged children and their families. The purposes of the organization are to (1) provide education and cultural awareness for the underserved, including low- and moderate-income communities; (2) promote artistic excellence that inspires community audiences; and (3) build collaborations and partnerships that (a) develop culturally and ethnically diverse audiences, and (b) provide access to quality artistic programs.

For six years Cultural Development Foundation of Memphis(CDFM) has been a pioneer in presenting culturally diverse programming and has presented more than 65 outstanding, culturally diverse music, dance and theatrical performances to more than 67,000 Memphians, half of whom were students ages 5 to 18.  Past performances have included the following: Al Jarreau, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Three Mo’ Tenors, John Amos in Haley’s Comet, Nai Ni Chen Dance Company, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Violinist Regina Carter, Boys Choir of Harlem, CeCe Winans, Ballet Hispanico and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.

Ms. Edwards has a passion for the performing arts and an appreciation for other cultures. As a result, she has traveled to Europe, Senegal, Holy Land, Rio, Asia, and South Africa. These factors –in addition to her commitment to youth and families, led her to establish the Cultural Development Foundation of Memphis, a non-profit organization that presents culturally diverse artistic experiences that enrich the lives of school-aged children and their families.

Ms. Edwards was born in Tupelo, MS and raised in Memphis, TN. She received a B.S. from Christian Brothers College in Economics and Finance, as well as a B. In addition, Ms. Edwards has 14 years of leadership volunteer experience at the Orpheum Theatre and other non-profit organizations as an officer, board member, committee chairman, committee member, and usher. Other community involvement includes active membership in Leadership Memphis and Mothers of the Nile.
